Text codes in operations

Maintenance teams use text codes for asset IDs and equipment references, warehouses for batch and lot numbers, manufacturers for machine settings. Since nothing is resolved online, the code keeps working in basements, warehouses and factories with no signal.

Length affects density

Every extra character adds modules. Under 100 characters the code stays comfortable to scan at small sizes; beyond that, either enlarge the print or move the content to a dynamic URL code that points to a page.

Questions, answered

How much text can a QR code hold?
The format allows a few thousand characters, but in practice keep it short: long text makes the pattern dense and much harder to scan in print.
Does a text QR code need internet?
No. The text is inside the image, so the scan works completely offline.
Can I edit the text later?
No, text codes are static. Use a dynamic URL code if the content has to change after printing.
