Packaging

QR codes for product packaging

Packaging is printed in long runs and lives on a shelf for years, so the code on it must outlast the campaign behind it. A dynamic code lets you move from launch page to manual, warranty registration or refill purchase without a single new print run.

  • One code across the product lifecycle: launch, support, repurchase
  • Country routing to the right local store or language
  • Scan analytics as a proxy for real product engagement
  • SVG vector at any size, with pre-flight checks before the print run

Print runs outlive campaigns

A pack printed today can still be on a shelf in two years. Pointing it at a campaign URL guarantees a dead link; pointing it at a dynamic code guarantees you can always move it, from the launch page to the manual, then to a refill offer.

Pre-flight before the print run

On packaging the cost of a mistake is the whole run. Check contrast against the substrate colour, keep at least 2 cm per side on small packs, preserve the quiet zone and keep any logo under a quarter of the code area with error correction at level H.

Questions, answered

What size should a QR code on packaging be?
At least 2 cm per side for handheld scanning, more when the pack is viewed on a shelf from a distance. Always keep a clear margin of at least four modules.
Can I print the code in my brand colour?
Yes, as long as the modules stay clearly darker than the background. The pre-flight check warns you when contrast falls into unreliable territory.
Can one code serve several countries?
Yes. Country rules route each scan to the local page or store, from a single printed code.
